Marketing & Branding

WHRN has taken the lead in branding and marketing our beautiful state to all healthcare professionals. Our marketing efforts help to keep Wyoming on top-of-mind with physicians and other health professionals across the country. We attend national conferences to keep up with the latest trends in recruiting.

Source Candidates

We keep a current list of physicians and other healthcare professionals who have shown an interest in moving to our area. We are constantly searching for physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners who want to live and work in Wyoming and are interested in rural healthcare.

Conduct Preliminary Screenings

We save you time and money by conducting initial screenings for you. For a reasonable fee, we can also perform background checks to ensure each candidate is a good fit for you and Wyoming.

WHRN has established itself as the single best place to find state funding for community health initiatives. We have facilitated the flow of more than $2.6 million in community health grants and programs to communities. We can help find funding for your community.

Rural Health

WHRN serves as a clearinghouse for information on primary healthcare services in the rural/frontier communities of Wyoming. We can provide, or arrange for, technical assistance and consultation services to communities and rural areas to recruit healthcare professionals, assess healthcare needs and priorities, and identify sources of funding and programming.

National Health Service Corps Offers Loan Repayment With Funds From the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Here is an important way to offer loan repayment to your physicians and other providers through NHSC (National Health Service Corps). As part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, NHSC will be disbursing $200 million in loan repayment nationwide. In order for your providers to participate, your site must be approved by NHSC. You can get your application for approval at http://nhsc.bhpr.hrsa.gov as well as learn about federal requirements for your site and for providers. This is the same address at which you will find the individual application for providers once you have received approval for your site. To find out if you are in a HPSA (Health Professional Shortage Area), check out http://hpsafind.hrsa.gov/HPSASearch.aspx. Some sites might be shortage areas for just dentistry, primary care or mental health, so this may affect the type of providers who can receive loan repayment through this program. Providers do not need to have trained through the NHSC program to qualify. Eligible professions include:

Primary Care Physicians (MD or DO in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, OB/GYN, and psychiatry) Primary Care Nurse Practitioners, Primary Care Physician Assistants, Certified Nurse-Midwives, Dentists: General or Pediatric, Dental Hygienists, Behavioral and mental Health Providers (health service psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, psychiatric nurse specialists, marriage and family therapists and licensed professional counselors)

Wyoming Physician Recruitment Program

Applications are not being accepted at this time.
The Office of Rural Health is not accepting applications for the Wyoming Healthcare Professional Loan Repayment Program for 2009.

Along with many other worthy programs, the Wyoming Healthcare Professional Loan Repayment Program was not funded for new awards in 2009 due to state revenues being lower than expected. The Office of Rural Health believes this program has a positive impact on recruitment and retention of healthcare professionals in Wyoming and we hope it will be supported with state funding again.

Check this website in May 2010 as we should know if the program is funded for the next state budget Biennium by then.
