In 1993, the Wyoming Department of Health, Wyoming Hospital Association, The Wyoming Nurses Association, and the Wyoming Medical Society came together to find a solution for the difficulties that rural communities faced in recruiting physicians and other healthcare providers. As a result of this collaboration, Wyoming Health Resources Network, Inc. was formed. In 1995 WHRN received 501(c)3 non-profit status from the IRS. Since then, WHRN has successfully participated in the placement of over 183 healthcare providers, including physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners across Wyoming. In addition, WHRN has expanded services to include a Grants Clearinghouse.
